CHABTAN
BIOGRAPHY
Formed in 2011 in Paris, CHABTAN is a French metal band that blends the technicality of melodic death metal with deep, spellbinding progressive atmospheres. From the outset, the band asserted a strong identity with a first self-produced EP, "Eleven" (2012), inspired by Mesoamerican mythologies, particularly Mayan and Aztec, which then fed into its conceptual universe.
In 2015, CHABTAN released his debut album "The Kiss of Coatlicue" via the label Mighty Music, followed by "Nine Levels" in 2018 and "Compelle Intrare" in 2022 via the label DarkTunes.
These opuses reveal a powerful, uncompromising sound, between controlled violence and dark melody, where the listener is invited on an introspective quest. The band's line-up has undergone several changes, and is now made up of Cris Red (vocals), Dimitri Merly (guitar), Augustin Pesnon (guitar), GAAB (bass) and Paul Mora (drums).
Buoyed by this new line-up, CHABTAN are currently working on their fourth album, scheduled for release in 2026. With this new opus, the band will explore new sonic dimensions, more ambient and emotional, while retaining the brutal intensity and cutting identity that have forged their style for over 15 years.
