IMPUREZA
BIOGRAPHY
IMPUREZA is a Franco-Spanish Metal band founded in 2004 in Orléans by guitarist Lionel Cano Muñoz. A true pioneer of Hispanic Metal, the band fuses the brutality of extreme Metal with flamenco guitar and the sounds of Spanish culture. An explosive alliance where Nile, Behemoth and Fleshgod Apocalypse meet Paco de Lucía and Camarón de la Isla.
IMPUREZA builds its albums around major periods of Spanish history, revisited through fantasy, myths and esoteric themes. This identity extends to the stage through a spectacular live show combining extreme Metal, theatrical staging and flamenco dance, featuring a flamenco dancer at the heart of the performance.
In 2010, the band released La Iglesia del Odio, its debut album dedicated to the Spanish Inquisition. In 2017, La Caída de Tonatiuh, released through Season of Mist, explored the conquest of the Aztec Empire. In 2025, IMPUREZA returned with Alcázares, its third album, exploring the Reconquista and medieval Spain.
With three appearances at Hellfest (2007, 2011, 2026), as well as performances at Wacken Open Air, Motocultor and Dong Open Air, IMPUREZA has established itself as a major force on the French and European Metal scene.
More than twenty years after its formation, the band continues to push the boundaries between flamenco and extreme Metal, both on record and on stage.
